Coaching

I have dedicated my life to human performance.

40 years on the court.

40,000 + coaching hours.

In 21 countries… and counting. Few can claim similar experience.

But so what, right? A crappy artist who has made 40,000 paintings in lots of places is just a crappy painter… with a passport full of stamps.

Don’t worry, I’m not gonna do that creepy talk about myself in third person thing here. I’m also not going to waste your time telling you how wonderful I am. (I am)

There’s sufficient info on this site for you to draw your own conclusions.

My life is tennis, but performance is universal. From the NFL, to Major League Baseball, to Olympic athletes, to public speakers… I’ve coached them all. Including a pro poker player (not very interesting), an award winning porn star (interesting), and, believe it or not, the most interesting of all: a person whose passion was tournament Ro Sham Bo.

I know… I also had no idea such a thing existed.

Reviewing tournament data, I found that people throw rock first more than a third of the time. That seemed a little too obvious. So I dug deeper, and found that only men throw rock first the majority of the time. Women throw scissors first most of the time. (There… now you’ll do the dishes less often than anyone you know. You’re welcome!)

You’re right… the better Ro Sham Boers know this stuff. With them it’s all about reading the non-verbal cues that others give off (body language + probability).

Here’s a master at work…

This sensitivity to the environment and people (not the specifics of how to perform a technical act, like hit a forehand) is the cornerstone to TOP performance.

Current projects I’m working on:

GR8NESS

I’m continually publishing this series whose current working title is “Gr8ness”.

This is the result of nearly a decade of thought and experimentation.

In my opinion, you can’t properly guide a person towards high performance without a deep understanding the human animal.

GR8NESS is about that.

The Art of Holding Serve

Tennis is a game of two games… serving and returning. Tennis is more fun if you know how to hold serve.

This book will help with that.

Several accomplished coaches said it’s the most creative and interesting take on tennis they’ve ever read.

GameChanger

The art, science, and philosophy of human performance.Human performance is a minefield of BS. This is a map to help you safely navigate it.

GameChanger is a semi-regular newsletter that highlights the work of people who have dedicated their lives to enhancing human performance.
