It’s not so hard to imagine “modern” civilization as a kind of zoo… is it?
It’s residents domesticated to the point where they can be trusted to let themselves out in the morning…
… and lock themselves back in at night.
And… they’re happy to do it.
Is a bear born and raised in captivity still a bear?
I know it still has bear DNA.
But it doesn’t do bear stuff.
And it’s certainly not capable of providing for itself…
… at least not in the way a “bear” would.
They say there’s some bear in all of us.
Six years ago mine woke up.
He was not happy with what I’d done with the place during his nap.
He stripped my life back down to bare wood.
The house… gone. The eighty inch flat panel, Pendleton duvet, and crate and Barrel place settings for 8… all gone too.
Then he took me on the adventure of two lifetimes.
Things are better now.
